Planning the Weekend

ACCOMMODATIONS OPTIONS

The Guest List is final. Our plans are final. It's on. Reminder: we are providing transportation to and from main hotel hubs (Detroit and Birmingham) Friday and Saturday nights. Scroll ALL the way down for full details and see email from Blake, going out tonight. Please take advantage of this!

As far as hotels, if you are booking now, you'll be doing so under
normal rates. Please do let us know where you are staying
if you've not already done so, if you are outside the blocks.

Scroll down for list of things to do while you are in Detroit!

Please let Blake know where you've booked!

We need this for transportation coordination.

Downtown Detroit - Taste of the City

  • The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit (book via link below)

    • Here is a custom link to make your reservations, but the block has closed.
Call  (888) 627-7150 if you prefer to book by phone. Higher end corporate
travel style. Lobby bar, as well as a great grille and full-service
      Starbucks
downstairs. You'll be near folks staying at DAC
or Detroit Foundation Hotel. Local flavor choice!

  • Detroit Foundation Hotel

    • While we don't have a special rate here, this is an interesting new boutique hotel, more contemporary in feel. Cool, spacious, retro diner-style restaurant downstairs.  Gym, business center, all that.  Limited number of rooms but worth a look! You'll be near people staying at the Book and DAC.

  • Detroit Athletic Club

    • If you are a member of a metropolitan club with reciprocity (Philly, New York, Washington State, West Coast, others), you may connect directly and book one of their rooms, if still available (very limited number of rooms). A Detroit classic option for guests who happen to be members. The club just received Emerald Club of the World certification. Even if rooms are booked, if you are a member, you should pay a visit. No jeans allowed! Kendall learned this on a recent visit.

***WBC, Detroit Foundation are essentially our Detroit footprint. You'll be close enough to meet each other, and transportation will be provided to you as a group for both Friday and Saturday night .***

Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills - Nearby Luxury or Comfort

  • The Townsend

    • Contact directly to book Luxury Rooms or Suites: 248.642.7900, reservations@townsendhotel.com. The block discount rate closed on May 12th. All rooms will now be standard rate, if you book here.

  • Holiday Inn Express

    • This will be a good option for being in a cute town, nearby the wedding festivities, and having local amenities (breakfast, coffee, shopping). Call  1-248-642-6200 or visit this website  to book, noting that this block has already closed. You'll be booking under normal rates.

***The Townsend and HIE are essentially our Birmingham footprint. You'll be close enough to meet each other, and transportation will be provided to you as a group .***

For those of you staying in Birmingham, check out Rivage Day Spa, if you have time or want to work pampering into your weekend. Very close to Townsend and HIE.

Regional Quaint - Romantic or Fun Share with Family &  Friends

  • Cobblestone Manor Bed and Breakfast

    • Incredible place, gorgeous (but few) rooms, posh furnishings, with over-the-top good breakfast. We stayed here for Blake's birthday weekend last year. If you like a top B&B, you will adore this place.

  • B and Bs, Inns, regional

    • Search in Birmingham or Royal Oak - great little towns and plenty of options, plus you'll be close

  • AirBnB, regional

    • Search in Birmingham or Royal Oak - great little towns and plenty of options, plus you'll be close

***If you choose one of these options, if you wish to take advantage of organized transportation, you'll simply need to jump in with the Detroit or Birmingham group. Ask us about this.***

TRAVEL NOTES

If you are flying in from out of town, plan to fly into Detroit International (DTW). If you are coming from the East Coast, it's helpful to know: this is a very quick flight, well under two hours.

We are excited to share a glimpse of our Heartland, a region we both call home and to which we eventually will return!

Scroll down for notes on things to do throughout the weekend, outside of wedding festivities. And, if you are making a long weekend of it, be sure to let us know when you plan to arrive.

We'll keep you posted on "unofficial" outings earlier in the week,
including some live music on Thursday in Detroit. Keep an eye on Paperless Post invites for updates on other official gatherings.

Due to nature of the night-time party, venue capacity and seated, formal dinner format, the ceremony and reception are adult-only. But, we have a fantastic roster of babysitters thanks to Lauren and local friends and are happy to give you ideas for your teens. Please let us help you coordinate,

if you plan to travel with kids.

And, all are welcome Friday for our social and  Sunday for Brunch 11:30am

at Joe Muer Seafood in Bloomfield Hills!

**Disregard any other time references, the time is 11:30am

Questions now - including who else you know may be attending?

Email: kendallmaria@yahoo.com + blakerockwell@gmail.com

Come be present.

As the 2nd half of life unfolds for us, we have what we want and what we need for our home and lives together. No gifts please! Truly.

Please just come, immerse and be present to celebrate!
